E550 transmission issues

Hello I recently bought an E550 and am having some issues with the way Mercedes has tuned the transmission. In eco mode it's way too soft in shifting with starting in 2nd, and how quickly it hunts upper gears.

But in sport mode I find the suspension to be needlessly busy for no reason. It seems there's no way to divorce the suspension from the transmission.

And I'm sure we all know how bad the manual shifting is on the car. Really rough downshifting with no rev matching and extremely delayed responses.

Is there any tcu tune out there that improves the behavior of the transmission? Anything that improves the behavior of the car?

Or will an engine tune simply overwhelm the slowness of the transmission with raw power? I just came from a tuned Golf R which has a good DSG stock, and when tuned was almost telepathic. Also just sold an M3 with DCT which again when tuned was great in auto mode, and of course in manual mode was lightning quick.

I know this isn't that, but I'm hoping it can be improved somehow.

Thoughts?

I have a SprintBooster. People have mixed opinions about it but I feel it both gets rid of the throttle lag and it changes the shift points. This $300 “gizmo” makes wonders in my car.

You dint mention the year of your car. Mine is 2010 with the NA 5.5 L engine.

Sorry about your trouble. That's why I always do a little research along with a test drive before I buy a car.

Now that Arrie, and Senecat joined ( missing Madman) with E550's, I wonder if you have all read the following thread https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post7885610

That car is another M278+7Gtronic transmission, correct? Just on a different platform. Would some of the "issues" be common?

Just a wild thought.

722.9's were used in everything. You can find used 7G's online for $400 bucks all day long. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the engineering. It's always software. You don't like how it shifts, find a Xentry console and run adaptations until you're heart's content.

This is a 2-door convertible? Basically a C class with the TTV8, so the driving dynamics are quite a bit different from the Sedan. I have no transmission or suspension issues as you described. Maybe try a transmission reset if you haven't already done that.
