Possible 2015 E350 purpose

First off, both are 4matic, so that is identical.
Here are her complaints about the newer sport model, which I believe are valid:
- It's slightly lower - 1 inch as per specs, which means it rides a bit lower
- The default wheels are 18 inches vs the 17 inchers she had. This contributes to a slightly harsher ride
- The suspension is also slightly stiffer, and she complains about a slightly harsher ride
- She misses the traditional grille and star, which is purely aesthetic
One thing to note: Neither of her models had airmatic, and that is an extremely rare option on the 350s (and even the 400s, it might not even be a common option on the 550s), so you likely don't need to worry about that.

I would prefer a luxury model based on a softer ride and 17 inch wheels vs 18. Most loaded models tended to be sport though so it depends what you want. The other drawback with RWD is that the rear wheels are bigger than the front which means you can't rotate the tires so you'll only get half the rated life out of them. so a 40k tire you will only get 20k out of them.
