Ventilated/Cooled seats
Hi, I recently purchased my facelift w212 and was super impressed that most of them don't come with cooled/ventilated seats even tho it has most overkill features for it's year lol. Mine doesn't come with one and currently I am looking for options available. One that I have is to straight up buy ventilated seats with everything else that is need to retrofit and have ventilated seats to work. Issue I see with that is they don't work very well. I can justify spending ~400$ or so that is enough to buy everything needed from a wrecked car and have it installed but I bet that those chinese ventilation systems will work as well, if not better, as oem system at a cost of 50$-70$ per seat(switch will not be at dash but I don't really care about it at that price point). As this is something I've no experience in I'd like someone to give me input. Is it hard to retrofit oem ventilated seats and to program them? Are those universal ventilation systems any good? If you have one installed, please post a link to kit if available.
P.S I am fine with ventilation system because in heat I will have AC running anyway. It makes sense that it will blow as cool air as it is inside

for vented seats dont bother spending the time retrofitting imo. they barely do much. since its just a few fans that blow very little air not not actual a/c, i dont even use mine. i have a remote starter and its a dream walking into the car ice cold so i have no need for the vented seats at that point.

The ventilated seats might move a fart around the cabin, but that’s it. They are really a very poor design.

Something I have found useful is to aim my cold AC on the floor since the seats slurp cabin air to 'cool' the seats.

One thing American car manufacturers have always gotten right as compared to their Euro counterparts are AC and AC related options. A GM product puts out killer AC and actually pipes it into the seats. The fans on the 212 are only good in conjunction with the seat heaters as far as I'm concerned.

The fans are CPU cooling fans.

Yes, interchangeable backrest is part # 2129060402, seat 2128202242. See attachments.

^ yep, I’m serious. I think they are sourced from the tech industry. They are quiet, but way underpowered for the intended use of moving air through those tiny pinholes.

After getting quote of parts that are needed to retrofit mercedes fan system and them working poorly I am thinking to get this:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...807727522.html
Even if it works like **** its 80$ for the kit and install would be 20$ so it definitely is worth 100$ for me to try and at least do something about it 🤣. I will update this thread if I get it installed.
My question would be, can I get 12v from somewhere in seat wiring?
