Factory rear heated seats were not available in the sedan for the USA market. To perform this installation, you will require the following

1. two replacement harnesses for doors
2. two door modules for the heating switches.
3 two 3 stage factory heating switches
4 six heating elements
5 rear right control module

wiring . There are not wires that actually go from the doors to the seats. The door wiring is specifically for the switch only. The small control module converts this info over CAN network to the rear control module.

the rear control module receives signals over can and sends power to the heating elements.

The factory rear control module for sending power to the rear seat heating elements. A metal bracket will be required to hold this module

Original door window switch.

All the wiring and control module required per door

Factory rear seat heating button installed in original location. The wiring shown earlier replaced the original wiring in the door panel. The control module will be installed in the door panel

Sunil - great to see you back into the mods. You and MBenzNL are trailblazers. The Distronic might be too much for me - but this one I might take on. Great thread.

kjb55, it's been almost a decade since i've been out of mods. Technology has surely changed with Mercedes and as always, they try to make it more difficult to retrofit mods. I'll update more pictures this weekend.

Replacement door controllers were required on my car since the pins were missing that connect to the small rear seat heat controller and switch. Replacements are easily found online. I should have the left door wrapped up this weekend. Unfortunately, i only ordered one switch and one door harness so I'll have to wait to do the passenger side rear.

The power distribution module (part I'm holding in above pic) requires a metal bracket in rear right of trunk space. If your car has the power inverter, you will already have the bracket in place. The power module gets power, ground, and two wires for internal CAN. It's got outputs for left and right rear seats.

This is the replacement door module for drivers side. It is the correctly populated pins for the rear seat heating.
