Hi, just have a visual check and found an oil leak in a bolt of the water pump. I understand that no oil should be passed thru the water pump. Any idea will be appreciated. Thanks.
Interesting. The surrounding area is too clean for the leak to be the result of oil migrating down from the timing cover. I would clean it off and monitor it. I don't know for certain, but I wouldn't think there would be any oil galleries near that fastener. I have no idea from where that could source. No oil anywhere else on the surface of the water pump assembly?
Thanks. Other areas surrounding that oily bolt are clean. I don't have any idea. Anyway, will clean it, drive the car a few day and then see what will go on....
Definitely clean and inspect. Also look around at the timing covers. I have a sneaky suspicion that its coming from above and the cycling of the serpentine belt is forcing it to accumulate at that spot.
