Navigation Disc

The car has the premium package, convenience package, and advertises specifically "navigation system". I checked out the car, drove it, played with it, it's nice. But the navigation system wasn't working. Guy said they take the map disc out until the car is sold so it won't get stolen.
They get to negotiating on the car, and they come back and tell my dad it's an extra $970 to make the navigation system work, even though it's advertised to the general public as having "navigation system".
Question - how much do these (I presume) SD cards with the maps actually cost? Can I simply buy one online somewhere for a few hundred and pop it in and off they go? Or is it getting into the guts of the system to get it to turn on and work?
It's a 2020 GLA, for an 80 year old grandma in Naples, FL. Car won't see more than 3,000 miles a year.. Her beloved 2006 PT Cruiser GT convertible is pretty much done due to age/rubber...at 40,000 miles.

So if the navigation unit comes on and says something along the lines of "navigation unit not active" - will an SD card and one of these update programs via your link, do the trick? Or do I need a specific Mercedes SD card and then update it via the link?
Can't thank you enough my friend!

Given the SD slot in that car and the Garmin based platform that unit runs off of - it' s a $40 SD card off Amazon specific to MB.....instead of $975 this dealership is wanting to charge him to get it to work. All they did was take out the SD card (link below).
They even tried to stick a "Ceramic Protection" charge of $1,500 on the price at the end. I am the one who actually looked at the car. All they did was buffer on some turtle wax, and didn't really get it all off. In addition to getting it on the black plastic trim. You can literally see the dried wax residue on the paint... Unbelievable. I'm going to spend a day and do a full clay bar / ceramic detail on it once we get it to the house. it's for my mom, and I'm going to make that little red thing shine like nothing else down in Del Boca Vista (Phase II) has ever shined before!
