Replaced my 2010 W212 Round Steering Wheel Buttons - inexpensively

The buttons were original to the grey interior. The "covering" or "sticker" had been scratched on a couple and on one it was missing entirely.

I found a set on Aliexpress for $22 shipped. It took two weeks to arrive. It didn't take long to replace them. They matched as well as my colorblindness allows me to evaluate! It looks like shipping increased a bit since I purchased them.

Don't bother with the "metal looking stickers" that go on top. I tried them. They suck.

$23 shipped w/tax for a set of buttons. $32 for the entire assembly. I'd link here but the listings on Aliexpress are ephemeral. Here's a screenshot with the title that an help you search for relevant listings.

Did you need to pull the steering wheel to install the buttons?

Mercedes would be wise to sell all these things themselves and list them in the catalog. But they would rather sell us the whole assembly to increase their profits.

Lucky for us we have Aliexpress that sells some of these parts that Merc refuses to. Like the little chrome strips on the HVAC controls that so many W212 are missing.

No. Two Torx screws to remove the airbag/front of the steering wheel. I pulled both the auxiliary and main batteries beforehand to be sure that I wouldn't set of an SRS failure light.

When disassembling the switches themselves, be sure to get the Torx screw that's underneath the label!

This guy was kind enough to post his howto on YouTube! You have to be mean to those round center buttons to get them out.

One note about replacement. The switches are "keyed" so you can't put them in the wrong spot - as long as you only do one side at a time.
