I want to share how the ECM is using subtituted value, when I disconnected the HP Fuel Pressure & Temperature sensor.
So, 6 BAR and 60C is how ECM will place the values as, probably for LIMP HOME mode.
The old, 7 BAR DRIFTED sensor, reading in air.
New Part Number vs Old One
Bloody Bosch, new sensor has either 90 degrees less thread or extra 270 degrees thread position at 33 Nm ( MB torque value ).
Now the connector clip is at the bottom ( 6 o'clock ) and no more the nice 2 is o'clock. Removing connector becomes difficult as fingers can't work easy on the space available.
There is no seal of any sort for sensor installation into fuel rail.
The sensor cone shape is mated to a female cone at fuel rail sensor port, like how JIC fitting can handle high pressure without using any kind of seal or gasket. Its precision metal cone meet metal cone.
My special claw wrench, come handy, to torque sensor, long socket won't fit due to space constraint.
My open wrench type head, is for my bigger torque wrench of higher than 40Nm, but I still can use it to remove/unscrew the sensor.
Pressure test, new HP Fuel Pressure & Temp sensor. Priming the LP pump.
Since the fuel quantity valve of HP Fuel Pump is a normally open type, activating LP pump will also produce near* equal ( *less HEAD/resistance at fuel rail and HP fuel pump internal ) pressure at HP Pressure & Temp Sensor.
Is there any DTC when the HP Fuel Pressure and Temp Sensor disconnected ?... Yes, but if one read the pressure, one get subtituted value.
So do not be confused, subtituted value is a common strategy. I learn of it at Scanner Danner premium/paid channel.
Ignore the U012087 Alternator DTC. Mine is on purpose, its LIN cable from ECM to alternator is disconnected. Its for super stable smooth and polite battery charging.
Okey, that's all I can share....... happy maintaining your HP/LP fuel pressure system.
