Help with column conversion...

Hey guys. New here. Just picked up a 2010 E550. I wanted to do a column conversion. I hate that my turn signal lever is switched with the cruise control lever... I picked up a updated column with the same features, but it's not working. Nothing works actually when I have it installed... Anyone experiment with this. If I have to upgrade the steering wheel as well, I will.

W212 FL
Welcome,
You can even have a W213's steering wheel or W177 A Class steering wheel in your car .I had seen the latter one in these forums . I'm not familiar with the column conversion but W177 A Class or present cars with MB AUX can be retrofitted but should need coding .However, if you like to have a W212 FL AMG steering wheel no coding needed , just plug and play but make sure if your car came with the lane assist or other functions , your new replacement steering wheel should also support those otherwise you would relinquish such useful features

The steering wheel controls module N80 with all the sticks talks to the rest of the car via CAN E to the Front SAM N10/1. On cars since 03/2013, it uses CAN E1 instead. N10/1 (front SAM) in turn talks to the wiper motors via the LIN 2 databus.

So most likely everything has to be coded to match or the CAN bus codes won't be properly interpreted.

Is this something the dealer could possibly do, or should I look for a 3rd party to help?

if its not a factory configuration, I doubt the dealer has a clue.

Yeah.. I figured as much. I did see a video or two online of people swapping the column and steering wheel and everything working but... Mine didn't go as well. I was trying to reuse my wheel, so maybe it's a package deal that I have to do.
