New Key needed in the UK
I bought a key from amazon and had it programmed by a local lock guy but it stopped working after a couple of months.
The keys the locksmith sells are £180 (the Amazon one was £35)
Does anyone know somewhere in the UK I can get a key that's not silly money but is also decent quality?
It needs to be a new key not a second hand one
thanks!

For security reasons, you should only get a new key from a Mercedes-Benz dealer (in the UK).
Countless threads on this topic prove there is no cheap way to acquire an additional or replacement key, other than at the MB dealership.

2014+ E-Class are FBS4, in which case the key can only be ordered from the dealer, and it's quite pricey, expect to pay upwards of £400.

If the car is 2009-2013, then it's FBS3, in which case, any workshop with a compatible key programmer would be able to make new keys for you.

Blade keys are easy to cut and lot of locksmiths can do it, but it is driver authorization chip, where most of them fail.
I know locksmith in Poland, who can clone used chip just fine. He was charging about $50 for the service before Covid (plus cost of the key) and needed ignition module for the job if you could not drive there.
You need to understand the difference.
New key ordered from dealer is programmed into new slot in ignition module, when service should also include deleting all "lost" keys from car memory.
Cloning is just duplicating 1 of existing keys,
