Passenger Side Cam Plug Blown Out of the Hole 2010 E350
Hi everyone,
I have a 2010 E350 Coupe with 118k miles. I recently resealed the passenger side valve cover and changed the crankcase oil separator cover due to oil leak. I did not replace the crankcase oil separator. After putting everything back together, the camshaft expansion plug on the passenger side won't stay inside the hole. For about a few seconds after I start up the engine, the cam plug will be blown out of the hole and stream of oil would come out of the hole. I tried using my fingers to keep it in place but I couldn't. The pressure is very high that pushes the plug out.
Here are some of my thoughts:
1. The crankcase pressure is definitely too high.
2. Maybe the crankcase oil separator cover was defective. I doubt it would cause this problem because there was no valve in it.
3. Maybe I put too much RTV gasket on the valve cover in some area that blocked off some oil or air passages?
4. Maybe I miss a hose or connector somewhere?
Have anyone of you seen this problem in the M272 or similar engine?
Thank you for your input.
