Rear Subframe Extended Warranty W / S 212

Today, I received a letter from MB USA,
extending the Rear Subframe Warranty
on my W212 2011 E350 4Matic Wagon from the original 4 years & 50,000 miles to 20 years & unlimited mileage, regardless of ownership.

My advice: call your MB Dealer Service Rep to schedule an inspection of your 212 W / S vehicle
Rear Subframe, & document everything!

There must have been a successful Class Action
Lawsuit to drag this myopic MB junta into the legal realities of 2023.

Got the same letter for my 2011 W112. There was a lawsuit. Looked on the internet and there are some videos on the subframe and some ads for parts. I have pretty much quit using my M-B dealer - too far away, too long wait to get car serviced and prices kept going up too much. Also changed personnel too often and service reps weren't as good anymore.
Will get foreign car indy to check it out at next service or place where I get tires rotated since they also do mechanical work.

Any good videos or pictures of what to look for? Without placing the car on a rack. Any other signs? Thanks!

I too got the letter today. (2013 E350).
On another forum thread here I read that one symptom is the car pulling to one side under braking. And I think I noticed one owner reporting unexpected noises when braking. I can't find that thread now.
The corrosion will presumably have started long before these symptoms appear however.

Got my letter yesterday - and will stick it in glovebox like it asks..

DOubt I will ever need it unless some really junky steel as not much rust down here.

I plan on telling oil change techs to keep an eye on it for me over the years

When my S212's subframe separated from the control arm due to rust perforation it affected the braking system of the vehicle. Under hard braking, the vehicle would try to rotate the rear end out...it would "crab" out under anything but slight braking inputs. The local MB dealer replaced the subframe under the extended warranty but there was a delay in getting the subframe from MB to fix the vehicle because of all the warranty claims coming in nationwide. I think I waited approximately 2 weeks to get my vehicle in for the repair.
To find pics of what to look for when checking the subframe, search "rusted subframe" on this forum...many posts on there.

Curious to know if anyone in NorCal Bay Area has had their subframe replaced under warranty? I received my letter from MB with the extended warranty and have my 2013 serviced at the Walnut Creek MB dealer. Went in last week for for A9 service and asked my service advisor about it and he said he didn’t have any knowledge of the claim. I did forget to bring my letter from MB.

either playing dumb, or their level is down the drain.

wonder if you can trust them with your car
