Backup camera black screen

Hey,

Recently bought a 2010 E350 4matic (W212) and the backup camera has not worked since I got it.

When reverse is selected on the gear stick the backup camera’s screen does intact pop up, however it is completely black with no image at all.
The camera option is checked “on” in the settings, and the physical camera itself and its lens are intact with no visible damage or issues, along with its wiring.
The car’s radio is factory with no modifications.

Not sure if it’s of any relevance, but one of the previous owners installed PDC sensors that are apparently aftermarket. The install is very clean, and I actually thought they were factory until finding a small module that actually does the beeping on the rear parcel shelf next to the right C-pillar and a larger module for the wiring and connections in the right side of the trunk behind the first-aid kit “door” in the carpeted lining (see photos)
I don’t know if this was originally installed to be used in conjunction with the backup camera, or if it was installed as a substitute for the backup camera as they were not able to sort the issue.
Unfortunately the previous owner claims they also bought it like so, and has no answers.I checked fuse 84 in the trunk, which is responsible for the backup camera, and it is fine. Even changed it with a correct new 5amp fuse. I’m out of ideas, and any help is greatly appreciated.

I may try and buy a used one on eBay. What was the process to program it after install?

I took mine out tried cleaning to contacts, etc — thought maybe unplugging and plugging it back in would help, but nothing.

It's just a bad connection/worn lead in the harness running with the deck lid arm. The wires wear out over time. That's why it'll be intermittent and temp sensitive. Mine works about 50% of the time but I'm too lazy to open the trunk and replace the bad section of wire.

Don’t think that’s the case with my car.
My camera’s image doesn’t work ever.
And I’ve traced all the wiring and been through every connection.
