Phone holder for E Class W212
Here's a nifty way to mount your mobile phone in a Mercedes E Class W212 (and possibly others)
I took a phone holder (ebay), one that has feet so the phone can't slip down and allows charging cable to fit
I bent up a plastic mount, cut from an ice cream tub to get some thin plastic, to use as a wedge between the dashboard trim
Cut out the holes and glued it to the phone holder
I used Loctite All Plastics Glue in two tubes which works
Dimensions 50 wide, 112 long between the bends, top flange 25, bottom flange 12
Very rigid, very neat, better than any phone holders with brackets or vent mounts that wobble about, and it won't mark anything
It is at a good viewing height between the instrument panel and Comand screen

That's nice , carbon trim also added another level to it . It may not be a real carbon not a big deal
I place my phone into the door panels , it may sound awkward place for many but door cards are big enough . Sometimes, for charging I bought a wireless pad I place my phone there just under the armrest

A good solution... But... the blue plastic stands-out (3rd picture down). I would paint the visible edges with a permanent black marker.

I use suction cup based phone mount from RAM-X

This way my eyes is still at road level because I install it right under the review mirror.
Its angular adjustment is fantastic, high power suction cup too.

I use one that fits in the useless shallow cup holders. It takes up one cup holder and can be articulated many different ways.
As an aside... the interior is beautiful with the cup holder cover closed.. but has anyone ever kept theirs closed ever? It's useful for phone or keys storage, it can sort of hold a bottle of soda or a coffee as long as you keep your eye on it. I wish the cup holders were located in a less convenient location like on the W211 so I could see that pretty wood.

Great Idea
This works perfectly. I used Kydex sheet. Clamped it in a vice and used two pieces of wood to clamp above where I wanted to bend it. This allowed me to heat with a heat gun a narrow strip at the bend and bend it over with a sharp bend. Used a progressive hole saw to attach mount just like OP. Thanks

My android has wireless charging, so this is what I use on my cars.
The clip holding into vent louvers is a bit annoying, but it works.
