Just had this bolt fall out of somewhere... Any ideas?

Hello!

I'm doing some work and just as I am lifting the car I hear a bolt fall near the right side (if looking at the front/grill perspective) of the engine bay. I am not sure what it could be for, any ideas will help me in my investigation, thanks!

Most likely it is the 2 + 2 bolts for CAT L bracket where 2 will be to CAT and 2 will be to tranny
See item #100 and #90

I once lost 1 of mine .
They are 35 and 39 Nm torque on mine. The 39Nm is the one to tranny

Ah it must have rolled away from the cat, ironically I was going to do work near the cat but didn't even look at it yet when the bolt fell. Oh and about that WIS/ASRA screenshot you provided, how did you find that? Is there a way to look up specific bolt markings? Thanks

In MB WIS, there is always a document for REMOVING-INSTALLING XYZ, in this case we speak of exhaust system. So in that document the tightening torque of bolts are stated.
It was on my tablet, so I can share it with you...the main document is in my PC back home and now me out of town till mid Jan 2024.

Bolts size ( the threaded shaft ) and its length is at the EPC linked I gave you. You never bother to read ??? Item #90 and #100, go and read it and tell me what u see ?
M8x16 and M8x25 , meaning bolt is M8 and tread length is 16mm and 25mm.

Go and buy a metric caliper and measuring tape when you deal with German /metric cars.
Your photo of the bolt, for sure the threaded shaft length ( I can't estimate its diameter or head size ) is a bit over 1/2" , so that is probably the 16mm one.

The code 8.8 on the bolt is a grade
