Replace NOx sensor or delete AdBlue?
Hi all,
This is my first post. FYI (I live in southeast Europe)
I have a 2012 W212 E350 Bluetec with OM642 Engine (211hp) (American car - imported from the USA) with around 190k km (120k miles) and it has been running great, but just last week while I was driving the engine light came up.
The next day I took it to the service shop, and after they did a scan with Xentry the report said the NOx sensor in the back is faulty.
The service guy suggested me three options:
I'm now looking for advice/opinions or feedback from your experience on what you think is better. FYI there is no legality/warranty issue with the emissions in the country where I live if I do an AdBlue delete.
Is there any post-effect on the exhaust system (DPF etc) if I go with the AdBlue delete? Or which one do you prefer?

The service guy suggested me three options:
- Replace NOx sensor (300 Eur)
- Remove AdBlue
- 1st option 150 Eur
- 2nd option 300 Eur (I have no idea what the difference between these two options is)
- Drive the car as it is with the Engine light on as there is no performance issue with the car

Not the diesel section so most wont reply over here. Personally I like having less issues that I need to worry about so straight piping as much as possible. Can pose issues later on selling the vehicle sometimes.
Gassers do it all the time and no one says anything about it unless its too loud.
I dont like engine lights so would do something about it if possible but thats just me.

If there's no AEM warranty over there, I'd look into deleting.
If the warranty is in place, bring the car to your local Benz dealer and let them fix it for free.

Don't think so they had AEM in Albania, but you can buy Nox probe for $56 and do it right.
Albania, or any other country, $10 says they have law forbidding emission system delete.
Driving with the light on on US models will lead to famous countdown, what will make the car a brick.
