7G tronic 722.9 trans refill questions

Had a few questions on refilling trans fluid for 722.9 with torque converter drained. I got 9.5 liters out of pan and TC. Dropped valve body, cleaned solenoid contacts and selector arm magnet. Getting everything back together with new VB bolts, VB o-rings, TC drain plug (w/ captured washer) and pan drain plug washer that are not provided in the service kits from what I have seen. Should I refill 10 liters before starting engine or less? Is the torque converter ok to run without fluid for a few seconds until trans pump refills it?

If you already drained a total of 9.5 liters, definitely start with 10, when I did mine, I drained a total of 8 liters from pan and torque convertor but did not take the valve body out, looks like you went in to more depth to clean it better.
I also started with 10 liters. I checked and checked and checked all over the place, videos I watched some people filled with 6.5 liters and started, some people started with 8
I just dont like the idea of running it dry even for a few seconds, so I initially filled it with 10 liters then started the engine.

I concur. Whatever you take out, put back in. Those adding only 6.5 liters probably only took out that much. Remember, measure as directed and at the correct temperature.

I did pan and the TC last time and it took 9.5 Litres with some run-off when the transmission hit 45 degrees.

I found precise measuring what I drain the easiest method. That helps even with motor oil, as having too many vehicles, I don't remember their capacity.
With 7G I refill about a cup above what I measured draining, giving for pan wiping.
Than after I make longer trip, I pull the plug to drain the excess.
Having monitoring scanner, the transmission takes pretty long drive to come to 80C.

Good afternoon, did you notice any difference after cleaning the valve body? is it necessary to do it?

Im still in the process. I will update. Most people don’t drop valve body and clean it. Hell most people barely service anything judging on general condition of used cars.

I did only couple of services on 7G and did not clean valve body, but had done it multiple times on 5g and per my observation wiping the pan clean is crucial part of the service, as that is where most of semi-solids end.
I removed valve body couple of times and the flat spots do hold some clutch dust, but considering the difficulty, I choose not to worry about it most of the time. Than 5G did have "lifetime fluid", what only changed to single service on 7G and only 7G+ require frequent service.
There is no way you will flush 100% of old ATF and dirt no matter what, so you choose between 90% flush with converter drain, or 75% of flush by dropping the pan only.
Dealers don't drain converters, when lot of cheap service will just pull the plug, what will give about 33% of flush, still leaving semi-solid dirt in the pan.
