2007 CLK 350 convertible
AWD system service
Hi guys, my 2014 4matic has just reached 100k miles. I wonder if the AWD system needs service. I’ve changed transmission fluid recently but not sure what are the AWD components needs to be serviced. Does it have front, rear differential and a transfer case like 4wd? Is there a detailed instruction video for doing the service? How often should the fluids be changed?

is it easy to work on? Last time I was trying to change the rear differential fluid of my CLK350 and the plug was tight and the space was not enough for a breaker bar so I end up brought it to a local shop. YouTube video also suggested using a special Loctite which is pretty expensive.

Not sure about 14 but on my 2011, rear one is a piece of cake, front one on the other hand has one plug and its facing straight down.
Filler on front one is hidden behind the alternator and a royal PITA to get to.
If you are quick, pumping the fluid and placing the plug back in before losing too much fluid then its not too bad. I was doing my CV axle at pass side and filled it from there.
Recently helped a friend and we were under a lift which made a big difference, once he was done filling he covered it with his thumb while I was making the plug and the wrench ready.
Never heard of any kinda special expensive locktite, use a good quality one and you`ll be fine.
