You can pull the data off the old one, but if it's dead and can't read it, that's a dilemma...
I had assumed that code on the device simply gave you a part #, but what do I know.
Since I'm no expert on the subject, the only advice I can offer is have BenzNinja look at it for you. My guess is he does this stuff every day. Or the dealership, which I try to avoid at all costs.
