Saggy headliner fabric

I have a 2011 e220 and the headliner started to “unstick” in the corners. The pictures are from the back, where it’s the most saggy, but also in the front it’s the same issue but not as bad.
At some point I did read a bit here or on other forums, and it’s somewhat a common issue on older cars for the glue that was sticking the headliner fabric to the headliner foam, to wear out. Or more precisely , probably the foam started to crumble and that’s why the fabric is no longer sticking to the foam. however seems odd for a little over 10 year old car , especially Mercedes, to have this kind of issue. (My brother has 2013 e220, and has the same issue with the headliner)

I tried in one spot to glue it back with some liquid glue, but I only stained the fabric…… I used a syringe and poked through the fabric with a needle, to glue on the inside. So this didn’t work.

I was wondering if anyone else has this kind of issue, or if they found any way to glue back the fabric?

last resort would probably be those colored pins to pin back the fabric but personally I don’t really like how it will look afterwards..

When I had a Jaguar XJ, I had a similar, albeit much worse, issue with the lining. Eventually stripping the fabric and reglueing a replacement piece was by far the best option. There is no way to patch this the easy way, behind the fabric there is only dust remaining from the detonation of the foam (usually due to heat from the sun combined with age). You cannot glue dust together to form anything.

I got a non original piece of fabric for my XJ, which was a bit of issue as the sun visors didn't match and had to be upholstered as well. I did all the work myself, expect for the sunvisors it was pretty easy.
