Xcessive smoke, especially at idle, after dpf delete
I have a 2014 e250 bluetech that ran perfectly. 90k miles. I got a NOX sensor code, had a friend check and clear it, a week later it came back, so I tuned the car to turn off all DPF/DEF, sensors and valves. Removed the the DPF and straight piped it. I tuned it and ran for approx 100 miles around town with no issues, but when I removed the DPF filter it smokes... alot. Like campfire smoke. seems to smoke worst after driving 2 miles at 50 mph without stops, then I pull up to a gate and it smokes everyone out, but also smokes terribly in the chik-fil-a drive thru... we reached out and got another tuners codes to see if it was just a valve stuck, but purposefully did not adjust for power or fuel efficiency. I am able to hold about 54mpg at 55 mph which is pretty impressive, but I'll need to build a custom cat/filter if this is my future. My mechanic friend found a blub from sinspeed in UK that implies they are aware of this common problem of "excessive smoking" through correct software tuning, but I have struggled to find anything else on this issue. It occurs to me a company may just list a fake problem they solved to scare you into buying their tune...
Anyway Please help with any information on solving excessiving smoke coming from exhaust after removing dpf filter and tuning the car to turn off Def and regen.
