I realized my E350 had a remote start one day by accident. I was at the mall and forgot where I parked. I hit the lock about 5 times trying to find my car by looking for the flashing lights. When I got to my car it was running. After some quick internet research I found that by hitting the lock button 3x times was how to activate it.
It worked great for a while but after a recent visit to the MB dealer for service it hasn't worked. I tried from both remotes and neither are working.
Is anyone familiar with this system? Any advice on how to reset it or get it to work again would be helpful.

I've never heard of a W212 with remote start. I wasn't even sure modern mercedes even had it. The ability to remote start and also lock my truck while leaving it running is a nice convenience on my GMC.
Do you only have one key fob for the car? I wonder if you might have Mid City Engineering's remote start system installed.
I have 2 Key fobs. I've been trying to research aftermarket remote starters that are activated by the lock button 3x times. Most seem to go by the panic button. Do you know if this Mid City brand is activated by the lock button 3x times? Im going to look into this model.
When I was at a previous dealer right after I bought the car and mentioned it had remote start the service writer said something like "Oh there must be a key under the dash". However I do have 2 key fobs, previous owners may have bought a 2nd. I tried to remote start from the other key fob but that didn't work either.
UPDATE: I did some digging in the usual spot and found an aftermarket remote stater unit. It is a iDatastart not a Mid City Engineering unit. Mid City uses 1/2 second panic button press to active and the iDatastart is the lock button 3x, both units utilize the factory key fob. Hope this information helps anyone. I'll be searching for a manual to troubleshoot the issue and if that fails will contact customer service for help.
