2011e350 sport- road trip report card A-
So, over two days this weekend I put on about 1300 miles FL to NY. roundabout way via Winston-Salem a preferred scenic route. I bought this ride in the winter down in FL. At that time 37K on the clock. Put on Conti DWS right away and just now needed sway bar links before the trip north. Now near 45k. This w212 accounted for itself really well. The six cylinder with the paddles in this sport edition made the ride more lively than I thought. Ran between 4 and D depending on conditions and speed and averaged 25+ MPG with plenty of runs above 85 to 90 and the revs between 2500 up to 4K. I've owned many German cars, 5 mb sedans among them. I've been a v8 guy but very pleased. This model compares with my old W210 E430. both cars seem to settle in nicely above 85mph and steering feel well centered and just heavy enough.
The only reason for the minus is the dated command system and MBTex seats were OK but I much prefer nice leather. Had to weigh all the variables when buying the car so c'est la vie.

I guess you can't really ding a 2011 for having dated software. If you compare it with the newer stuff, although the newer has more functionality, it looks way worse--almost like a toy. And you still have real gauges which is a big plus over digital clusters.
MBTex tends to hold up better in the long run than real leather, but I also prefer the feel of leather.

hi thanks. Yeah, I had to enlist my copilot wife in managing NAV and audio entertainment from my phone. Both shortcomings with the old system.
Funny about mbtex I had it in black in my old W202 280 sport, my first Benz and from last century lol, and the aroma was actually really good and lasted for the 3 year lease. Have not experienced the same in this model. (beige fwiw). I'm sure they changed it over that decade or so unfortunately.
Well, my post is not about nitpicking because I enjoyed the driving experience in the vehicle and that's what I wanted to share.

but yes they did smell wonderful esp with lexol maintenance.
