E250 2014 keyless entry and remote start

Hello!
I have a w212 2014 E class with a standard ignition lock with a FSB4 key
I want to install an aftermarket keyless entry and remote start.
Here is the question, if the original key remains in the car, does it need batteries or is it not necessary to leave the batteries in the remote? Will anything bad happen to the original key if there are no batteries for a long time. I understand that the batteries are only needed to open and lock the doors. If there are no batteries, you can still start the car, am I right?

Why? What problems arise?
