Knocking sound

Hi all,

My E350 facing such wiered issue which is not clear to me, After morning start everything is ok, I move the car and drive it for several minutes or hour. After that trip, I will start to hear knocking sound and it could be from front left(I am inside a car) I can feel it too from steering wheel. The sound will be easily to hear as following states:
1. Moving with full turn at very very low speed.
2. Some times turning the steering wheel to left and right at stand up.
3. Moving back with very low speed and turning car to left.
I got the car for inspection, but they found nothing as the sound didn't come up, they told me to keep it until the sound will be louder.

I am confused from this issue and I don't know if it is dangerous or not. What are the parts that can do this sound?
The video for my sound.

Note: From a year, I have changed the Steering rack due to very loud knocking sound/whinning when turning at low speed and standstill.

The video for last year issue in steering rack.

Let's be clear. What year car? (I never trust what people put in their profile.) How many miles? 4Matic?

Knocking can be a wheel bearing, DV joint, axle, or transfer case. There was a long thread last year where the guy had a cracked wheel and was making similar noise. The crack did not allow air leak, so he replaced virtually everything up front before discovering the problem.

I had a pretty similar sound and it was the Front swaybar, the rubbers was moving around so i lubricated the rubbers and sound went away.

That makes things simpler. It could be the sway bar links or bushings as @redaotrosh stated. Since you are at a standstill, I doubt it is the wheel bearings. Is your steering electric or hydraulic? My 2014 C350 is hydraulic, but my 2015 SL400 is electric. Not sure when Mercedes switched to electric in the E-Class.

Since you are also feeling it in the steering wheel, maybe it could be in the steering wheel shaft that runs from the steering wheel to the steering rack.

what is your full model designation (212.XXX) or VIN?

Here is a diagram of the steering components. You can see where there could be some binding if the parts are worn. Were the engine mounts replaced recently? When did this problem start?

My car had Electric Steering rack and the VIN is WDDHF5KB7EA983215

This sound start from 1 month ago, last thing I did to my car was replacing brake pads/rotor at MB dealer (OEM Parts) on 5 Nov 2024 and after that replace tires with new one (Yokohama ADVAN APEX V601) before Christmas. Last checkup(5 Nov 2024) by dealer(before the noise) mentioned that all Engine mounts and sway bar need to be replaced but I didn't do the maintenance yet.

The sound heard from 1st of January.

Well, I don't think the engine mounts would cause that noise (but they could). More likely it is the sway bar links or bushings. The problem if it is the bushings is that they are fused to the steel sway bar and not replaceable. You have to replace the entire sway bar. Not sure what that involves.

Do you have air suspension or is it traditional suspension?

I was at the dealer for oil change, they said thay car ride height is some how low, and the left side is lower than right one.
He asked me to book service for checkup the car to determine the root cause.
I got home and check, left side height between the top of the tire to the fender is around 0.6 inch while the right side is 1.4 inch.
What is the normal height for E350 facelift sport package not modified?
Does the torsion bar and sway links have this sign?

The dealer will charge around 80$ per hour and the sway links each 90$, torsion bar 350$.
