My car has this feature but I never use it.
Sorry for the confusion, I am talking about the arrows below the N R and D, That image I posted before was misleading.

Here is a much better image: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...53c784ca79.jpg

notice the arrows pointing up on the left side of R, left side of N and right side of P? Those arrows won't appear if the condition doesn't meet to go into those gears.

It is not dangerous at all, unless I am doing 200 KM/H or higher and open the door.
As long as the road is nice straight and safe as in a paid highway( not narrow 2 way ) or quiet housing area, all good.
My eyes is on the road, only my camera is aimed to the right door.

Was worried about the wind when you open and blow the door open further than you wanted. Glad everything is all good!

Actually nevermind, that is an aircraft term but with the turbine vents in modern MBs, it might as well be an aircraft.

, the door would want to close by wind force actually for our typical door style.
But if I ABS locked the brake when door opened, maybe it will damage the hinge.

If this kind of Rolls Rocye door with hinge at B pillar, it is risky to open it up at speed

Great! Now I know it is safe to open the door to pee while driving. It still splashes a bit.

I mean, I guess there are those times you really have to... um go... especially for long journeys.

It's safe and allowable to open the door on a Cessna 172 at any speed the plane is capable of flying (up to around 187mph). They have the same feature where the wind wants to blow the door (mostly) shut, so it's actually quite difficult to open it more than a crack, but they unlatch on their own all the time.

If you lose some control surfaces, you can actually maneuver the plane a bit by using the doors....

How would one parachute out in case of emergency if the doors only open a crack?

It's really not a big deal. The only time it becomes a problem is when the pilot gets distracted by handling this non-issue instead of flying the plane--typically on takeoff...

Was there a nice streak down the side of the vehicle afterwards?

Probably very little. At that age my "nozzle" is GDI pressure, close to 3,000 PSI.
If I do the same tomorrow, its Port Fuel Injector only, 75 psi max ......
Also I might fall to the road when driver brake hahahahha. My gyro not as good as when I was 18.

I did what I did is to avoid needing to overtake slow bus all over again....if pee-ing need to stop the car.
It was a winding mountain road with tea plantation.

Yeah, I skinned my "water canon" on the asphalt. Gotta be careful!
