Location of ambient or outside temperature sensor on 2011 w212

Hey gang,

Does anybody know where the ambient temp sensor is supposed to mount on a 2011 W212 with the AMG sport bumper?

One of the first fixes I did to ours after I bought it was to replace that sensor which had died. Unfortunately the car had been in a front end accident previously and so not everything was replaced in the correct locations, and the under bumper splash guard is still missing.

Does it mount behind the foglight grill like the facelift models?

Right now it's shoved behind the bumper, but has been reading too high so I'm hoping to find the correct location. So far my searches haven't found anything, either in person, or on here.

Thanks!

That's the facelift model, mine is shown above. I found a post about the location for the facelift models, but I'm still struggling to locate the mount for the pre-facelift like I showed above. I obviously have a foglight right where the green arrow is.

You do not have separate fog light. That hockey stick is a DRL that turns off when you put the fog light on.

Your main beams do the fog lights for you.

If I remember correctly in my car the temp sensor is in the middle area at the very bottom in the front. Not in the corner.

One thing for sure the temperature sensor front dot is very small.

- it has to be at very direct front wind/air exposure, in front of car. So it has to "pop" out somewhere among the grille and not totally hidden. Use torch light to find it.

- You can trace by its wiring too , but must remove 1st plastic under carriage cover.
Big connector approx 12 pins for parkings sensor, located on RIGHT side of bumper, my car is RHD. Could be LEFT side if LHD car....maybe.
If the daylights are on the bumper, 1 more connector probably 3-4 pins.
The other wire/connector set would be for the ambient temp sensor.

Well, there are a couple of pre-facelift W212s at the junkyard, pick.n.pull in Windsor and Newark, CA. If you feel like doing a trek across the border, you might be able to do a field inspection, LOL.

Pfl 63. Every Mercedes I’ve had 03-13 had has had it in the same place. You can even see the little hole right next to your fog light. And quite honestly, that fog light doesn’t look proper because Mercedes does not leave external screws like that.
