Thinking of upgrading my 2010 E350 radio and display

Guys,

Had been preparing to install an aftermarket rear back up camera since the one on my 2010 E350 died some years ago. Was gonna go with a simple 3” display in a replacement rear view mirror but in researching this I’m seeing posts of people replacing their factory radios and displays in the W212 and I’m thinking I may want to do that instead. Many of the posts I read were from like 8-10 years ago so I’m wondering if anyone had some updated advice for a radio/display update for the W212s. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Mike

We have an Android Auto topic for it . Well, my car has an aftermarket Android Auto Display . I don't know who did it or what brand it is . Previous owner did it for me lol
Well, Good things first :
Pros :
I can have a 3D View as well as 360 view and being a bigger display than OEM I can have a better view
Wireless Android Auto can be connected but cell phone's hot spot must be turned on for it
Better Interface when listening to music via usb

Cons :
When I received a phone call , I didn't hear the caller's voice nor do they hear my voice. To overcome this issue, I had to select MB Bluetooth during phone call but it's very dangerous to handle a phone while driving so I deleted my phone's bluetooth ,only hotspot is active

This is actually beyond my expertise, but you might want to visit Crutchfield website or call them. They do a lot of this and have experts to help with also. In addition, you can get help as long as you own the item.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually decided to explore replacing the rear camera. Got on you tube and saw a video on how to remove and when I got it out (took like 10 minutes; my concern was not wanting to chase the wires all the way to the dash but there’s a pig tail that allows you to disconnect the camera in the trunk lid) I used the part number on it to order a replacement used one off of eBay because new was like $600. Hoping this fixes the back up camera. If not may finish installing the aftermarket piece I have.

Not sure what you mean. The replacement camera from eBay is used OEM. The mirror back up camera is the Auto Vox TG unit:

MB’s of all kinds.
As temping as it may sound I would leave it OEM. 99% of this aftermarket stuff is junk from China that last a short time and malfunctions.
