2012 E350 wheel will not come off the axel

Arggg. I want to change the left front low beam lamp but need to remove the tire to get full access to the inner fender shield. I looked at my owners manual and it looked straight forward. After removing the 5 lug bolts and inserting the guide stud, the tire would not come off the axel. I tried various method of pulling the wheel, but it would not budge. What am I missing? How do you get the tire off the axel? I am 84YO but have worked on cars since I was 14YO. So, I generally know what I am doing. but Mercedes seem to make simple task hard. Any help would be appreciated.

Agree with the above comment.

Thread one lug bolt back in one or two threads, so that the wheel doesn’t fall face down and get scratched when it comes loose. Then liberally apply a size 12 boot to various places around the tire. It’ll come loose.

I would put 3 lugs back on, but leave them about 1-2 turns from finger tight, then slowly drive the car forward and backward a few feet until the wheel loosens.

I've left all 5 on before and just backed them all out a full turn. My garage empties onto our slanted concrete pad so backing out with the weight shift is enough to break wheels loose.

Our first question should have been "what region are you in?" I am sure some friendly member could stop by and kick the breaker bar for him.

First of all HATS OFF for someone at 84 still working on his car, just AMAZING!!!

Secondly, the wheel is quite tight fit on the hub meaning some corrosion has happened and the wheel is just “stubborn” coming off.

Sunnyslope’s suggestion is actually very good. Just open bolts one turn and move the car a little back-and-forth. It will loosen the wheel.

I loosen all the bolts 1 turn then turned the wheel left and right. The tire came right off after I jacked it up and removed the bolts.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
