Somewhat on a whim purchased a 2011 Pre facelift W212 E550 with the M273 engine from the US. I live in Europe so the euro emissions standard plays a huge role in yearly taxes for the vehicle.
Now my question is towards the europeans here, what euro emissions standard are your 2009-2011 W212 with either the M272 (272HP) or M273 (388HP) engines?
Mercedes benz here in my country offer a service where for almost 500 euros they ask the manuafcturer and give out an official document that the vehicle is (if it is actually) compliant with Euro 5 emissions standard. I can then use the document in the Department of Motor Vehicles here otherwise it will be titled as Euro 4 and it is not changeable. Now I don't really care about the standards all that much but the difference in yearly tax is almost triple between euro 5 and euro 4. The dealers here do not disclose previous requests and I don't feel like gambling 500 euros just to be told it does not meet the euro 5 standard so I decided to ask here.
If you look for some E500 (the E550 is named E500 in Europe) M273 or E350 M272 on the website mobile.de, you'll find out both engines are Emission Class Euro5 which is not a surprise. This should give you the confidence level you expect.
