E400? (U.S. Market)

I see the new E class has reached the United States market. Which is great! I like the design of both the new Sport styling and new Luxury styling, it looks way better than the post-facelift W212!

Since I finally have enough money and a stable income to afford an E class, I plan on buying a black E400 with a 6 cylinder engine and luxury styling with those gorgeous 20" optional wheels, same thing as this:

My concern is this, I noticed on the C class the luxury styling cannot be paired with the C400 I6 here in America, and since the E400 is on its way, I hope they don't do the same thing with the E class, that is make the 6 cylinder option exclusively for sport styling.

If Mercedes-Benz USA decides to do that, I won't have a problem with buying a sport. But I would prefer a luxury with an I6, like in Europe.

I feel the same way and agree with you. I don't have the answer but maybe someone will post that knows. I don't care what anyone says or how well the 4cyl. performs I still want a six in my luxury version E class.

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
This has LONG been a gripe of mine, ever since the old E550 was not made available in Luxury trim, which meant that AirMatic was only available on a Sport trim model, which made absolutely NO sense to me. Anyway, the GM of a dealer I am close to, told me that all options and engine choices, other than AMG engines, will be available in both Sports & Luxury models. We want a fully loaded E400 Luxury sedan, but we'll opt for the 18" wheels. Those big wheels & low profile, Run Flat tires are fine on ribbon smooth highways, but on anything else, it's like a woman wearing 5" heels to Disneyland. They look great, but ouch!

There is no E400 Sedan coming for the U.S. market, only the E400 Wagon. Now that might change once the new I6 engines come for the 2018 or 2019 model year.

I wonder if they are still considering mild hybrids for the I6 power plants.

That would contradict the GM at my local dealer, but you may be right. Anything to meet CAFE while still being able to market their AMG monstrosities in the USA. If so, that's very sad.

There won't be an E400. Only an E43 which will obviously have AMG Sport styling.

Your best bet will be to wait for the Maybach version which will likely have either a V6 from the E43 or a v8.

There isn't a Maybach version of the E-Class either. NO such car is coming. There might be a E400 Sedan for the 2018 or 2019 model years or whenever the new I6s come online. It won't be for the 2017 that's for sure.

It has nothing to do with CAFE, it's pure marketing. I'd say wait for the 2018 or 2019 model year when the I6s come, then there will likely be a 6-cylinder model that isn't an AMG or wannabe AMG model.

Believe me, I thought that there was going to be a BIG difference between my father's e350 2010 and my e300 2017 and there is absolutely no indication that the v6 in my fathers e350 is more powerful than the I4 turbo in my e300. The I4 in my e300 is actually quicker off a stop light and during highway driving and in my opinion is more smoother.

I read some where that the E300 will be the market offering for a while due to EPA regulations.

.
I'd settle for an E300 with the AMG 4 banger. Finding a wrecked CLA45 or GLA45 for parts is the problem.

Aside from every road test that shows that it's slower, I'm sure you're right that the 4-cylinder is faster!
