I believe the NA M276 is in fact 3.5 liters, though I agree the naming convention has moved on...

I'm really starting to get tired of all this waiting, both from my dealer's BS and Merc's inability to deliver. Now that I know the designo package will not be available, I'm thinking of cancelling my order and moving on to the 2017 Panamera.

Did you see BMW just announced the 2018 M550i XDrive. Looks pretty good. V8, 462hp, 0-60 in 3.8s, AWD, and if seems like it will be priced to compete with E43.

Plus they have over 21 colors and 8 interior choices.

When will MB follow BMWs suit and put a 6 cylinder in the non-mag trim.

I think they messed up with the E43. It doesn't have enough power for an AMG-lite car. It's competition is the Cadillac V-Sport (420hp), M550 (462hp), and Audi s6 (450hp).

With 396hp they couldn't afford to launch the E400 because there isn't enough a gap between the E43 -and E400. My guess is when the new inline 6 E43 comes out that will have 440hp and then the E400 will come back.

I like it! I always felt that bmw interiors look a little outdated, but this is a beast of a machine!

The new BMW (G30) 540i looks really good with 340 hp and many of the electronic goodies standard. It also has 1.2" more rear seat leg room. More info is located here. The MB E300 similarly configured easily tops $75k. I haven't seen pricing on the BMW's yet.

The BMW 540i will be available about the same time the E300 with p3/hud becomes available - Feb 2017.

I was impressed they had dynamic cruise control and LED headlights as standard on all models. And of course being a BMW it has 4 years free maintenance.

Plus the 540i will be 2018 model year vs 2017 which will be better for resale.

Is that in the cards? Leading with the turbo 4 in the flagship e class, arguably their most important model, was a huge mistake IMO. You think they are going to have all those engine choices, a 4, a 6 and a turbo 6, diesel, and AMG? Regards. Ned.

There won't be an E400 sedan in the US. AFAIK all MB E Class engines in the US will be turbo equipped.

That would have been a killer base engine for the e as opposed to ramming a turbo 4 into the market that many won't buy. I don't know what Mercedes was thinking. Regards. Ned.
Well actually many are buying and offering a 4-cylinder is what ALL the competition does. MB is only following the market. Now their mistake is not offering a V6 WITHOUT the AMG treatment. There should have been a E300, E400 and E43.

No it didn't. The old E350 had an honest to goodness 3.5L V6.

Was digging through my emails because this was driving me nuts, and I stumbled across an order guide for the c43 coupe.. Designo interior is listed as a $5200 option.

Wonder why they pulled the plug on it? Or did they? Is the configurator the only proof that it went away, because we know how accurate they are.

Smile New E-43

Hi, I'm in Toronto and have had an E-43 AMG on order, fully loaded for about two months. While I don't have a VIN number yet, dealer says January 4 delivery at this point. I once owned an E350, which was a beautiful car but I thought quite underpowered. Then I purchased two straight BMW 535's. The first was fine, then I bought the diesel. The diesel is powerful and sips fuel, but I am really angry with BMW over poor service especially with regard to numerous problems with the vehicle's electronics - the cruise control breaks a lot, and the compatibility with iphone has been abominable with NO efforts to fix it. I'm not willing to pay $100K CAD for a go kart with bad electronics. I thought Merc service was FAR better than BMW, so I'm switching back and I'm sure I'll be satisfied with the superior power of the E43. I don't want an 8 cylinder car because in the middle of Canadian winter I don't want to stop at gas stations every other day...but like a nice responsive speedy car. Comments welcome. Nice to meet everyone.

Just ordered an E43 here in the Bay Area. Paying custom to order 6% under MSRP plus fleet discount. Other dealers were around the 4% plus fleet discount for custom to order.

Key takeaways on the E43:

- altogether larger and more sophisticated interior than the C43 or C63. Still don't like the C-class center LCD which looks like it was added as an afterthought, not integrally designed as you'd expect on luxury cars in this price bracket.

- dealer expected MSRP to be $65k, was surprised to see $72.5k in the DOG

- they come pretty much fully loaded, with parking assist, sunroof (not panoramic), dual 12.3" LCD panels, Nappa leather all included

- looking at YouTube reviews seeing that despite lacking Affalterbach hand built engines the E43 has the crackles and pops when you downshift, even without performance exhuast

- 0-60mph in 4.5s for a car that size still sounds pretty impressive to me

- getting the black leather with red striping and red seat belts. Friends with this on a C350 who've owned for 3+ years still thrilled with this

- started up a C63S at the dealership. Sounds like a caged monster under the hood. Not sure I need quite that much power. The E43 is still a fast car, but it has the space for comfortable family journeys.

My only slight disappointment, besides the higher MSRP than expected, is that US versions lack the remote parking pilot. While clearly a novelty there's something super cool about extracting your car from it's space with your phone. I'm now starting to see new 5-series ads claiming this capability, not sure if this is in the US though.

My hope is that this is a temporary issue and the firmware or app can be upgraded. The issue is either safety or availability of radio frequencies in the US.

The BMW uses its key fob for remote parking, not a cellphone.

Based on other discussions on the forum, the issue seems to be Verizon and its outdated cellular technology.

What is the P03 pricing? The last time I talked to my MB rep he didn't have any options pricing.

I have a loaded e43 on order as well. Not sure I'm happy about getting a car with run flats, never had them before, let alone 19's. what's your opinion on run flats? Harsh ride? Not a big deal? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

If you don't like them just swap them out. $1500 for a set of Michelin PSS is not a big deal.

Any idea when the 5 series will arrive in U.S.? I just watched a review saying that it will arrive in UK showrooms around Feb 2017. Might be awhile after that for it to arrive in U.S.

Not exactly. The BMW 540i will be a 2017 model and maintenance coverage has been substantially reduced. It is now for 3 years and only certain items are covered. Wiper blades, brakes, etc. are now excluded. Link
