How is the quality and reliability of the new E-Class?
I'm currently driving the W205 C-Class but its having some major issues
so I'm thinking of getting the E-Class with some additional payments.
My dad used to have 2006 E-Class (W211) he had it for 10 years without a single issue other than the power seat failure which was covered under warranty.

I'll let others chime in as well but even consumer reports has no "reliability" rating as the car is too new. I traded in my 2015 C400 for the new E Class...I'm glad I did...good luck!!

OP, you were actually better off leaving the "C class owner part" posting on this side of the forum. 99.99% of E class owners would definitely say get rid of the C and go for the E.
A C to an E is an upgrade no matter where or how you look at it. its the same case if youre coming from an E to an S.
reliability? only time can tell as youve seen first hand with your near new W205.

My E300 is an early build and has many teething issues. It's in the shop at this very moment and has been there for 3 days. Up to now, the dealer has replaced the center console, the exterior windows trims, and the window wiper. There's a recall issued. They're diagnosing problems with the trunk lock button, voice command, rain sensing, and the cornering light feature. In total, my car has spent perhaps 3 weeks in the dealer's shop since July due to part shortage and SA/Tech's unfamiliarity with the new E series. The major mechanical side has been solid. YMMV of course. Hope this helps.

Why did the window trims need replacing? I'm asking since my front doors rattle/make noise which is reduced or entirely eliminated if I drop the window even 1mm. Seems if the window is powered right up into the door it creaks and moves around in the frame. Be good to know if that's common and a fix exists!

The bright chrome trims located at the bottom sides of the rear windows were misaligned and riding about 5/8 inch higher than the front ones from day 1. I reported the issue to the dealer and the shop foreman just pressed the trims down. They eventually worked their way up again and seemed to collect a lot of water behind them. I went back to the dealer and showed them that some water kept trickling out from under the trims for a long time after a wash. They decided to replace them.

My first attempt I was told by the shop guy that the film I had installed on the window ( by the same shop that did the dealers work) was the cause of the annoying sound. You could lower the window and the noise would stop, for awhile. I left, however I could tap near the locking pin and replicate the noise. I went back later and demanded a different guy. Got the same guy who eventually solved a similar issue on my previous car I had to take in TEN times.

Turns out there were two loose nuts. He also did his magic with felt and wrapped a few other potential future causes of noise.

Seems they keep a good supply of felt in stock.

Drivers side chrome trim is also high on the rear door. Didn't know it could let water pool, I'll heave to keep an eye on it and add it to the list of things to be sorted at first service.

I wonder how the vehicle could pass the dealer's pre-delivery inspection and service.

The shop foreman told me that the trim pieces are there to keep the water from getting inside the door. Most of the basic E300 loaners I had so far have trims correctly installed. Are the rest of your car OK? I just got the cornering light fixed last week. The local dealer had to connect the car to MB and have it fixed remotely -- The external puddle lights work after the visit as well.

Only drivers side rear is an issue. I'm in the UK and bought the top options package that has the full/uninhibited Multibeam lights and apart from lorry drivers hating the auto main beam, they are fine with fully working cornering/complex junction lighting. Though you be fair I've had lorries flash me twice with just regular mains on -no light leakage upwards to annoy them, I think they are just twitchy seeing a car with so many lights on at the front that they automatically think it's on main beam(four proper lights and 4 accent/strip lights just seem too much for them, bless em!)

Interesting you say about puddle lights, mine are fine but the exterior door handle lights, that light up where to grab the handle, only work when you occasionally lock the car, never when you open it with the remote or keyless. It's like the total opposite of useful. That's another for the list.

Other than that it's just some minor rattles that plague mine. On to 10,000 miles now so not long till service due but just got the recall notice today for the rear bench seat/fuel pump issue so may ask for fixes then. Including the trim issue, thanks.

My handle lights get lit up whenever the doors are unlocked. No rattle so far. And you're very welcome.

Felt is the duct tape of MB service techs. I had two noise issues on my 2014 e350 solved by let tape. One was a whistling noise caused by wind coming through the small gap between the grill insert and body.

Yay for felt tape.
