Ordered my E300 on October 10th. Was not built until December 9th because of pano roof and 19 wheels backlog. Loaded on the vessel December 21st. ETA to port in Baltimore on January 8th (3 day delay since loading).
Hopefully 10 days after, dealer should have it delivered to me.

I get my cars thru Keyes European in Van Nuys. They gave me the production date the same day. I'm sure its a dealer order that they tweak to my specs. My 14 ML was the done the same way.

I was at the dealer (again...) and they're still showing open production slots for late January. The dealerships can SEE the production slots on NetStar immediately and continually. There's no reason they couldn't have told you this information unless there's an option you ordered which is backordered.

I ordered my e43 loaded in October, now being told build date of January 19. I hadn't ordered a new car to spec since my 2001 e55. I assumed build date was when they started production of car, now told its when its expected to be done, go know! Regards. Ned.

How many days should one expect between "build date" and "delivery date" for an east coast car? Ultimately the only date that really matters is the date I can drive the car off the dealer's lot.

Ocean transport time can vary significantly. I've had cars waiting to be loaded at the port for more than a week or loaded immediately. Depending on the cargo ships may make en-route port calls before arriving in the US. When you know the ship you car will be on you can then view the ship's route and schedule.

anyone else in the US being told this

Initially, I was told the car will be delayed due to shortage of P03 and in particular the HUD (therefore Q03 was an option which is P03 without HUD). With P03, I was told it will be build in October. In October the dealer told me the car was built as expected, but retracted a few days later saying that the MB factory ran out of the 2nd screens for the instrument cluster. I was told that I could probably expect the car in February instead, that is 7 months form order to delivery (and it was still no firm commitment).
Therefore, I did some more research (almost ending up with a lease for a 5 series BMW instead) and found a car at another dealer that was almost same specs. as the one I ordered. So I ended up canceling the order and bought the car from the other dealer instead......
Sorry, not really a happy ending and probably does not help you much but I share your frustration with MB lack of visibility in the process (I never had that problem with my BMWs )....

I live in Asia and has been trying to order w213 with drive pilot.
The dealer had been refusing to accept w213 orders with drive pilot, saying it's not available due to limited manufacturing capacity.
This past week my sales called me and told me that my order was finally accepted with build date in March. She also showed me a screenshot of the MB ordering system.

After reading all these unpleasant experiences these customers have had (me included) with the MB ordering, manufacturing, poor parts supply chain, cars being held at shipping ports for repairs, deferred delivery dates because of faulty car systems, and on and on, I'm beginning to think MB is an organization that can't deliver what it promises and offers for sale. How long has the E300 been in development and ?....and they still don't have it figured out. What does that say about the engineering and testing systems? Maybe it's just time to look elsewhere for a car because it looks to me like the silver star is under some very dark clouds.

I hope the delay is due to manufacturing capacity, and not due to repairs/reworks.....

MB can deliver. I ordered my GLC300 without having ever seen a car in person. The car had just been announced for the US market. Dealer had not received any cars. Dealer placed order in Netstar in November 2015. I ordered a fully loaded vehicle without a problem. Got it the end of Feb 2016. Car came from Bremen factory to Brunswick VPC to Texas. No delays.

I placed an order on January 7th and it was slotted to arrive early March but added pano sunroom on the 11th and that pushed to a new slot with expected deliver about 3 weeks later, sometime late March/first week of April.
Black/Black E300
Sport wheel pack
19" AMG wheels
Rear deck spoiler
Panoramic roof

Premium 2
Nothing too out of the ordinary but the roof did set it back some.
