How to manage multiple phones and navigation apps?

Hello

A quick question involving navigation apps: I have an iPhone but I find Apple Maps horrible and Sirius not much better. I would love to use Google Maps so I started looking at solutions without having to drop my iphone. My phone plan allows me to add a data-only Android phone for about the same cost as a Sirius account. My question: If I hook up an Android phone to the car through Android Auto will I still be able to seamlessly use my iPhone for calls? Bluetooth connectivity with the iPhone will work? I read that Android auto may require Bluetooth connectivity, even if a wired USB connection in present. I could not find clear answers on the Internet, as I doubt many would consider trying to manage two phones with different systems. Anybody know about this stuff?
Thanks, M

I have been using the Google Maps app on my iPhone for nearly five years. Definitely better than Apple's mapping, though the latter had improved over the years. And you should also try Waze. This nav app (available for the iPhone too) has become extremely popular.

+1 on Waze and Google Maps. Android 7.0 allows split screen so I can have both open on phone. Use your phone holder of choice and you are cruising along.

I was hoping to use the screen in the vehicle. I need reading glasses and reading Google maps on the phone while driving is just plain dangerous.

Unfortunately with apple car play you are limited to the apple maps function. I wish they would allow a screen mirroring mode where you could view any app of your choosing but that is not the case...yet.
