I clearly remember when Lexus introduced the LS and the car has an early recall, Lexus had all the LS's in the country picked up at the owners house fixed and delivered back. Now that is service!

Mercedes-Benz has a 5 star safety rating.
I'd rather crash in a Mercedes than any other make.
Their safety systems are superior.

With MB, complain about pretty much anything and a tall, blonde guy, with a crew cut, in a white lab coat comes out and says something like: "Zerr kut nat bee anyzing vrong mit dis uber auto frum zee Faterland!! YOU muz be doing sumsing vrong!!" Then he turns to two guys in black trench coats and he points at me and says "Take him! Take him!!"

The Eclass as I pointed out on a previous post aced every NHTSA test an impressive performance, however, six safety recalls out of the gate regardless of number of cars affected is pretty dismal. MB has always been known for its arrogance in face of mistakes all the way back to when their insistance of continuing a race after an accident with one of their cars killed numerous spectators. When their cars performed poorly on the redesigned frontal crash tests 20 years ago their response was that their tests (offset) was superior to the NHSTA full frontal.

MB doesn't fight recalls as many other manufacturers do such as Ford, GM and Japanese makes. GM fought a safety issue for over a decade by obfuscation and denial of responsibility due to bankruptcy. Six recalls over a year, one of which did not involve a W213, were quite minor or affected very few cars. I suspect that many of those recalled cars were not yet sold to consumers. Mercedes is quite proactive with safety issues. Offset tests are a valid measure of crash worthiness. NHSTA eventually adopted them. I don't find Mercedes-Benz arrogant at all.
Citing within the rules racetrack behavior has no place in this discussion. One doesn't voluntarily quit racing until the checkered flag or they are red or black flagged. When competing, one should continue as long as one is capable of doing so.

Between the recalls - I'm waiting for a recall notice to arrive by mail before the dealer will correct the issue, BTW - and a hosts of minor issues, my car has been left at shop for 7 times since July 2016. It still has issues with chattering wipers, COMAND system rebooting at random, rough up/down shifting from D3, along with the mentioned recall. The service department could not duplicate the issues, so I'm recording them and will send the SA the videos before making the next appointment.

Your speculation about how MB felt exposes your animosity towards Mercedes-Benz.
There is no basis to posit that a business organization has feelings. They don't. All business's prime directive is to maximize profits. Some companies like MB operate ethically while others like VW/Audi/Porsche do not.
Why do you bother to post here?

Between 1993 and 2012, I had eight new LS sedans. Whenever there was a problem--which was very seldom, the response was something like: "We are so very sorry there is a problem with our car. We will completely disassemble the car to find the problem. If we cannot find it, we will ship the car back to Japan for further review. In the mean time, here is a brand new RX for you to drive, full of gas, drive however far as you like. If it gets dirty or needs gas, bring it back and we'll give you another new one, full of gas."

Thank you, I was trying to be funny. Actually, service on my most recent MB cars has been pretty good. I honestly believe that we have Lexus to thank for that, for their push for excellence made others fall in line. Still can't seem to get them to keep the Panorama Roof on my S550 from creaking, but I've given up on that one, since there is only about 7 months left on the lease.
