Well, reading the lengthy list confirms one thing part of the engine sound is piped in even on the 300. B63 engine noise over speaker.

 

I checked my car option list and there is no B63. Therefore, not all models have the engine noise over the speaker.

 

Its probably part of the Burmester audio system ?

 

Not applicable for the E43. Only for E300.

Ignore what I said above, I was talking crap. Vic confirmed I've got standard advantage suspension that has the passive variable damping. So it's not user selective despite merc using the term. My w212 did had selective suspension and the difference was night and day, hating sport as it was so bouncy (so I stand by the fact you can get variable damping without needing air suspension or fancy fluids). I thought the w213 had it to but as I was coming from the soft spring se spec to the stiffer AMG line new model I thought the difference was much more subtle. So subtle, my brain has succumbed to placebo effect whereby the change in steering weight and throttle mapping made me think the suspension got slightly choppier. Went through high crosswinds again this week and sport mode definitely makes it better but it's not the suspension, it's the steering weight/rate (?) change that helps!

Still surprises me that in the UK the w212 had standard variable shocks but the w213 doesn't. Though perhaps it's because the w213 is good enough in standard form it could compete with BMW and Audi without. Maybe the facelift will get it as standard here.

Anyway, wanted to correct my mistake so as not to mislead anyone!
