Head unit code

I plan to buy the W213 Head Unit controller and wanted to ask if there were any problems and would it be possible to put another controller with different unit code? Do I need to change exactly with the same code?
Example.: I have an A213 900 8412 head unit and I'm going to change it to A213 900 7611. The pins on controller looks like the same, but the code is different.
