I read somewhere that if you order the 'heated windshield' option, that Mercedes new windshield wiper system called "Magic Vision Control" is then included....

AFAIK Magic Vision Control is offered only in the GLE/S/SL/GLS Classes.

 

It is standard on the new E Class Coupe.

 

Yet, not available on the 2018 E43 ?

 

I can see the need for it in the coupe since they would likely use the same for the convertible where this is really necessary. However, I was dying to have this on my E and was disappointed it had yet to trickle down to other models

 

Educate me please: why is magic vision control essential on convertible if not on a sedan?

Or did you actually refer to the heated windshield (is it essential on a convertible)?

On a convertible with the top down windshield washer spray can easily drench occupants by the upward stroke of the wiper blades. With magic vision control the fluid is sprayed on the windshield during the downward stroke of the wiper blades.

 

With the top down, this prevents the water from spraying onto the occupants. Many people fail to understand how to properly wash their windshield. I tap the lever multiple times so that the fluid is not continuous. Other people hold the lever and spray their entire car as well as neighboring vehicles.
