not a slot; the card is (OPTIONAL) integrated in the car and via a special website you buy a package & activate the card.
don't know where you are but in Europe it's vodafone:

2017 E300 sim card/wifi
I would like to get away from using Mercedes Mbrace to get wifi in my 2017 E300. I understand that in the US, the equipment is through Verizon with an agreement with Mbrace. I tried calling Verizon to have the wifi activated on my own personal Verizon account, but they told me that it was not possible.
Is there any way (in the US) to get a sim card to do this or activate through another service?
Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks,
Craig

If you are thinking of a WiFi hotspot via Mbrace it must go through the Verizon cellular service. A better solution is to establish a WiFi hotspot directly through your cellular phone. The set up method will vary depending on the phone and operating system. On my Galaxy S9 there is a Mobil Hotspot icon on the pull down settings menu.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
I have a Verizon - Galaxy S8 and do use the phone wifi hotspot from time to time, but some areas that I travel in have poor or dead cellular spots.
I currently have a free 3 month trial with Mbrace (Verizon Telematics), and since it is using the car's hotspot (and built in antenna) the reception is much better when using it.
I would like to use the built in hotspot in the car if possible to improve connectivity. I don't know if this is possible?
I was able to talk to a tech at Mbrace, and he told me that the hotspot on the car would have to be "jail broken" in order to function independent of Mbrace, but I just don't know if there is another work around for what I would like to do?
Any thoughts?
Craig

Question for somebody that might know. I currently pay the $25.00 a month to ATT for the internet in the car main reason being is I like the internet Radio and the weather and all on the cars screen. Can I use my Cell phone which has unlimited data as a hotspot for the cars internet therefore allowing me to enjoy the internet radio and onscreen weather? If so I guess I'm paying $25.00 a month for nothing. If not possible I just thought of something else. I probably could get the tune in radio app on my iPhone and play it through Bluetooth or lightening input to the car?. I'm gonna try that now.

Why are you paying $25/month to AT&T. I'm only paying $20 month for unlimited data to AT&T for my car.

Ok, very cool. Did not realize Tune in Radio would show up under apple car play, so able to change categories and stations via apple car play. I compared the sound quality (another reason I've liked tune in internet radio) and I can't tell the difference between the built in MB app and the app on my cellphone via the apple car play. At first I thought I was going to have to pay $9.99 a month when I first loaded the app. but nope, looks to be free. I guess for the premium service it's $9.99 though. But looks like I'm getting a heck of a lot with just the free service. Good find. So, now that I have this figured out and I have checked start apple car play automatically when my phone is plugged into the lightening cable I see no reason to continue paying the $25.00 to ATT for the built in car internet? Can anybody think of any other reasons? Like I said I have unlimited internet on my iPhone, don't really need a hot spot off the car. Perhaps when/if the remote Parking feature because available I'll need internet, does not seem like that may ever happen though in the USA.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is on the 2019 model year, you either have internet service in the car through AT&T or you don't have internet service. I don't think (but am not positive) that you can use your phone as a hotspot. I think you could in previous years.

Prepay would cost more? Doesn't make sense that it would. I'll keep my internet service for the car. We don't have unlimited data on our phones, so this actually costs me less than having an unlimited plan for our two iPhones.
