Nope. Perfectly legal. Used by many other US, Japanese and Euro manufacturers, and, to my knowledge, by Mercedes everywhere except the States. Maybe Canada also. I was just curious why they would go to the trouble for an unnecessary mod.
Add me to the list of improving the NAV sys. W212 was better.

Even i was looking in the manual last night (love the long weekend) for the list of voice commands and it’s a paltry list

Even though i prefer COMAND to Apple Car Play, at least Siri is decent (most of the time) . I’m going to try and send someone a text message today via COMAND.

There is an update that i read in the paper or cnet i think that was mentioning there is a significant update to linguatronic coming. Not sure if they flash yours when its in for service or its one of those you have to buy a new car scenarios.

My NTG5.2 system in my C-class has it. No destination entered and it still shows the exits.

I don't know whether my NTG5.5 E-class has it though, I usually don't pay attention to the map display to notice whether it shows the exits like my C and GLC do.

The one that was in my 2014 ML and 2014 SLK - not sure what the generation of the COMAND was.

I suppose its just a “i’ll Get used to it” - i mean i know where i am going, as i drive from Glen Waverley to the CBD each day for work but sometimes when I don’t know , eg country drives etc it can be handy or when the traffic is ****ting me.

Nice photo of the C Class.

The designo seats are marvellous. It was a toss up between the E400 coupe edition 1 and the E220d Night Edition, so i went for the latter, but that 400 engine still beckons me at night :-(. I was worried about the matte paint. Oh well.

I live in Sydney, in a typical suburban suburb, same with a lot of my friends, the shops and train stations aren't within walking distance, and you can forget about bus services running on the weekends. Btw what is your ownership experience so far with your E 400, which specifications did you select and how is the fuel consumption so far?

My E400's an Exclusive Line trim with the classic grille. I took every option that was available for it (so it's maxed out).

Basically:
Active Comfort Package (which includes Thermotronic 3-zone climate control and massaging seats, as well as Air-Balance and climatized seats, with seat heating in the rear). This was the best package in my opinion.
Exclusive Line
TPMS (I'm surprised this isn't standard)
TV tuner (kinda useless actually)
Wireless charging (iPhone with Qi case works well with it)
Anti-theft alarm with interior surveillance
19" 10-spoke alloys
Macchiato Beige Exclusive Nappa leather (superbly soft yet still supportive)

The only thing I wish I could've gotten for it was 3D Burmester, but apparently that option wasn't available for anything else other than the E63S.

Fuel consumption is decent on highways (7-8L/100km), but in city traffic, it goes down the drain (at least 12-14L/100km).

It's the perfect long-distance cruiser, but were I to drive from Melbourne to Sydney with rear passengers, I'd take my GLC43 instead (the seats are higher off the floor, which makes it more comfortable for rear passengers). Although the GLC43's an SUV, I feel that it can be driven more spiritedly than the E400 (which feels more like a wallowing boat).

I also wish it had remote park pilot - my apartment's garage isn't all that big and it's hard for me to get out of my car after parking.

The 2014 ML and SLK were both NTG4.7.

I live right smack in the middle of Carlton, next to Lygon Street, so all I need is just the tram to get to my workplace in the CBD. However, sometimes I need to drive to a datacenter in Kilsyth for work too, and that's when I use the GPS.

I don't really notice whether or not the exit signs pop up on my E-class, but the next time I head there for work, I'll keep an eye out and see if it does. It does a decent job at rerouting (with TMC-SUNA), and I'm pretty happy with it (not happy with how user-unfriendly COMAND is compared to Audi MMI or BMW iDrive though).

Oh and thanks, the C-class shot was taken when I was back in Malaysia on vacation.

I would ditch the utterly useless air freshener that takes up half the glove box.
I wish CarPlay was wireless and I wish when it was engaged I could still switch between it and other non Carplay audio and nav functions. I wish my iPhone 6 Plus could fit on the charging pad when plugged into CarPlay.

Other than that I love the car!

You need to try French cars, they put the fuse box in the glovebox with the result that it actually can only just about fit one pair of gloves!

That is a very impressive spec, if you don't mind posting some photos of the interior, I didn't even know the designo interior can be ordered now. I just placed my order for the E 400 as well with the AMG pack. Was deciding between that and the exclusive line but I prefer the flat bottom steering wheel.

Quicker command system, better GPS (traffic info) and car to stay in chosen drive mode, as already mentioned by others.
Wifi that stays on all the time (to connect cloud based dashcam)
Louder parking(radar) beeps!
Wireless carplay

It's absolutely fantastic and makes the cabin look so much brighter.

On the other hand they're a handful to keep clean though.

I love it, and hesitated for a long time. In the end I didn't
have the ***** for the reason you give here above ;-)

btw Funny how all the buttons in your car are in the same
place as a left drive, except for the steering wheel.

In the US the only way one can get beige carpets is with Macchiato Beige/Saddle Brown designo Nappa leather interior which is a $4,900 option.

Yeah it's a dumb layout (the area around the trackpad). I've to reach over to the passenger side just to change the Agility Select drive mode.

But then, it's easier for me to hit the hazard blinkers since it's right next to me, which is useful when stopping behind backed-up traffic on the motorway, or when blinking them to say thanks to another driver.

Actually, they come free ($0.00) with the standard 145 - Macchiato Beige/Espresso Brown MB-Tex interiors as well.

You are right. I never considered MB-Tex. IMO it is for taxicabs.

I'm under no grand illusions when buying an E-class -- it *is* a taxi. Many people's first experience with an E-Class is the back seat of a taxi. Hence, the idea of a "Sport" taxi is laughable to me.

I actually had considered getting a Lincoln Town Car Executive L (livery version) at one point. 400,000 mile lifespan in a car? I'm game. Many of the limos I've been in NYC were livery-version Town Cars, some with 350,000+ miles on them and surprisingly in good shape considering the miles on the clock.

Quieter petrol engine. Missing easy exit and enter.
Today, for the first time, I had to fill up the washer fluid and that's some stupid socket/port (whatever you call it in English). I had to stop many times to let the soap bubbles shrink.
