So, the pic told me that Mercedes is in the process of creating a "tool" which can measure if there's some play.
What this means exactly I don't know, but it's officially registered with MB, so maybe some experts here can tell a bit more about it..?
In the meantime they changed the discs once again.

They will probably build a small rig to check the discs and other components for warpage and extraneous movement aka "play". I imagine the check will be done at each corner in situ with everything assembled as it would be on the road. Assuming this issue is specific to your car and not all other cars, the root cause could be from one or more components either out of tolerance, worn or assembled incorrectly or a combination of them all.
Out of curiosity, every tried to replicate the issue on a rolling road? might be worth trying as the source of he vibes might be observable from outside.

Yes we use the term “play” or runout. The equipment to check that is readily available but I always used the feel of the brake pedal if it vibrated you have a front rotor problem had then had to true the discs or replace if too thin
i would want to pull the wheel to check the rotor surface for the variance but it has to be fixed!!

Hope your trip goes well. Weather here up in the north west not too good winter has returned😔
i am no mechanic but as i understand your problem new rotors are ok at first and then deteriorate.....so they are wearing unevenly to give the vibration. So could it be uneven pressure in the braking system....i actually have no idea as i am not in anyway qualified. As you say seems mercedes are taking notice but best thing would be for them to just replace your car! Can empathise with you not what you want or expect in such an expensive car. Might as well buy a dacia duster!

I have had the issue in several different makes of cars. It was explained the the rotors get hot, then suddenly cooled, i.e. Going through a puddle of water and that contributes to the warping. After I have put performance after market rotors the problem never returns!

I’m in the Netherlands now (beautiful weather :-) and so far after about 1600km the problem has not returned... yet.

You timed it well nice high pressure in place for a few days yet😊
fingers crossed the rotors last the return trip. Will raise the issue with my garage weds when my c class is serviced. That by the way has to have a rear door hinge replaced....the dior will not stay open and feels strange as there is no resistance to the halfway stop point. Makes getting in and out awkward as the door keeps swinging shut on you.

Spoke to my service adviser today and he said he was not aware of any rotor problems on the e class. However he did say they have had few new eclass through their dealership. My dept is small only 260k residents and mainly agricultural the main sales of the one dealership is a b and gla class.
But I had a schock my c needed new rear brake pads......not had to replace brake pads on one of my cars for ages and ages as I change every 36mths. And rear pads I always thought the front went first. Car has done 39k so seems the brake pads like the tyres wear quickly...... and to just finish things off seems the eclass maybe delayed. Something to do with the new on the road real world emission testing and certification. Seems the co2 rating is going up though he assured me mercedes will absorb the increase in the bonus malus should it go up.
Hope the trip back is trouble free.

so I drove about 1600 km without any vibration whatsoever.
then drove back to France yesterday and it started again after abt 200km (ie after 1.800km ttl)
it didn't even start with a subtle vibration which then builds up; it just went from nothing, to very noticeable.
got home with about 3.000km on the clock since disc change and so far the vibrating is not as bad as last
time when after a mere 500km the whole car would start to shake during braking.

just as I suspected I guess you were at the dealer when the doors opened this morning. It is very obvious what is causing the excess heat buildup with the rotors
I’ll bet upper management is on this issue but no fix policy has come down to dealer service personnel

Sorry for late reply just changed my phone and despite the easy data transfer I had probs with remembering passwords for many accounts - got there in the end.
I am really sorry to hear you still have no resolution and actually that you have a car that cannot be used as advertised. If the rotors on your car are not up to the job then mercedes must replace them with the better quality ones and I think compensate you for all your time in keep going back to the dealer and loss of enjoyment while you are using a car with such a serious design fault. I am becoming worried as well as I wonder if my car when it arrives will end up the same.
I assume putting on AMG rotors will need other design changes? What have the dealership said this time? It is not a good advert for mercedes for sure.

it's strange that for 1800km I had zero problems and then all of a sudden it started.
(very noticeable, though still "sort of acceptable")
But drove 160km yesterday & 160km back this morning and it now starts to get worse & worse, where the whole car shakes
( today is roughly 3.600kms after they changed the discs)
was waiting for this to happen before calling the dealer again. will do next week to find out if this "tool" has been developed yet...

Think this is just appalling. I really share your frustration😱
Vic Viper are you trying to see if this is common in cars with drive pilot or distronic? I have no such issues in the s205 but i am a low mileage user. Have you come across this problem in your country? (Sweden I think? )

Yes, there seem to be a pattern with vehicles equipped with autonomous braking systems.

Thanks for info will not feel so bad if it happens to me! Shall await developments with interest but what a disappointment to have such a problem on a prestigious and expensive car like an e class. I could buy a house for the price I am paying for mine!

I am certain they cannot back away from the autonomous braking systems as it appears many are very enthusiastic about that system even though it is obvivious the car is "trail braking" a bit too much thus heating the rotors.
Please keep us informed as to the resolution of this. My E300 has not exhibited any signs of the issue but it may never as it doesn't have the P3 system.
