How To: Replace dash air vents

Hello,
I think we need to make a wiring harness with the LED wires and the short wire connector A 213 540 12 28.
We all need just someone to let us know how to connect the 6 LED/wires to the A 213 540 12 28.
1. Do we connect the 6 LED’s in parallel (4 LED wires red, black, yellow, brown) to which connector side?
2. Where do you plug the other side of the A 213 540 12 28 into the car ?
3. Then you need to activate the LED’s via Xentry?
Thanks in advance,

2. It's going to the screen abient lightning port. From what I have seen, people go another route and it is going through the lightning port of the control center.
3. Yes, you will need to use Xentry to code new LED's and wire to whatever port of lightning you use( in my case, it was the screen) so they can share the color and power with that.

Hello,
So you are just tying into the screen ambient lightning port with all 6 LED's? Which part of the T in your picture are the LED's and which part is the existing cable?
Thanks for this info. Much appreciated, and I will follow up this weekend when I get it all connected.
Cheers,

Hello,
OK,
I made the changeover, required a few mods. Here are some details:
1. All the LED wiring was put into 1/8” heat shrink tubing.
2. All connections were heat shrink tubed, and super 33 electrical taped.
3. I tapped into the display LED’s not the console. Used the A213 540 12 28 short wiring harness and cut it in half. Used one end to tap into display LED, the other for connecting all 6 leds in parallel.
4. Need a good 26 awg stripper, and a small tip soldering iron.
5. Easiest to make and solder wire color pairs, then combine pairs and solder all together.
6. Make sure you use a small screwdriver to release the many different types of latching connectors on the back of the display. Don’t just pull.
7. The center new vent pairs do not have a hole for inserting the old small air knobs, however you can screw them into the dash cover since there are two unused screw holes for what seems exactly made for this.
8. Great time to also snake a 12V wire up from the 12V accessory port since the top of the dash is also open. under the left side of the glove compartment, there actually is an easy route. Good for detectors and cameras.
9. Took my time, about 6 hrs. Used gloves and towels to eliminate scratches.
10. You do need to go get the LED’s enabled in Xentry. Will be doing this soon.
Does anyone have the Xentry location information to enable? My dealer is unsure.
Cheers

Tap into display LED harness
Remove by turning counter clockwise
Tapping black,red,yellow, brown
Complted tap with new male connector for connecting the new female connector with the parallel LED’s connected in the dash

Each LED has 4 wires (+12V, -12V, Canbus in and Canbus out).

In Xentry you need to code additional LEDs to the N162 (AML) Ambiance illumination control unit.

I have purchased all of the vents, LEDs, and the wires. I see that everyone in this thread was plugging the harness into the LED screen that also has ambient lighting. However, my car doesn't have Ambient lighting on the screen so I cannot plug mine in there. I have to plug it into the center console.
Does anyone know if this is still possible to do? Thanks!

What to do in Xentry?
Can you please describe the exact steps in xentry, where to code new leds?
What do you need to know about that part? New wiring pulgs into the screen lightning port, by tapping it together into 1 connector.
1. All the LED's are connected together and all have only 1 end, pic attached
2. It's going to the screen abient lightning port. From what I have seen, people go another route and it is going through the lightning port of the control center.
3. Yes, you will need to use Xentry to code new LED's and wire to whatever port of lightning you use( in my case, it was the screen) so they can share the color and power with that.

I kept seeing this for the W222 but not for the coupes. So who sells the led turbines for out Coupes?
and what should it cost

They are the same vents as Saloon/Estate. After market ones need no coding - they plug an play into a wiring corrector in the centre console under the touchpad. Video coming soon on my YouTube channel (likely 3 weeks time)

Just throwing this out here for those that also care about functionality (lol).
On my prior Merc I switched to these turbine LED vents and I loved the way they looked, however I wasn't happy with the way the airflow comes straight out and didn't have much vertical adjustment. Our stock vents have horizontal vanes to adjust the height of the airflow, i.e.; not blowing in your face.
The turbine LED vents can rotate up and down in their sockets, but it's not the same adjustment range as the stock vents with the horizontal vanes.
This is only an issue if it matters to you. In my case, I didn't like it because I couldn't get them to adjust low enough for me. Just FYI to think about and be aware of.
