Build-to-Order Unavailable

MBWorld Fanatic!
I believe the ship's route depends on the load out. Last July the route for my car was Bremerhaven, Southhampton, Charleston, Brunswick. Then it went back to Charleston evidently to load then up the East coast. Ships can service Brunswick and Charleston on the same day due to their proximity.

2018 E400 Sedan
How can I do an U.S. inventory search for an 2018 E400W4 sedan with P3 package?? My local dealer is unsure when they will get E400 sedan's and they don't seem willing to do any searching. Any suggestions??

Dealers trade/swap cars between themselves all the time. When it initially looked like my preferred dealership wouldn't be able to build a P3, they immediately started searching for P3 cars already made AND P3 cars in the production queue at other dealerships.

The only way I know you can do an inventory search unfortunately depends on MBUSA updating their website to include the E400W4's, and using their "new inventory" tool. This is a bit tedious, but it can be done ... but since you can't even build an E400W4 on their website right now, this option is currently unavailable to you. Same restriction would currently apply to TrueCar and others, who currently only show E300's.

ordered a P02 sedan early in September and have received several build dates and all have been missed. Waiting isn't fun as dealer is suggesting a reorder without the screens. Any updates on build times.

Robert: I think your dealer might be jerking you around... I ordered my P3 in August for a confirmed November build and it was built, without issue. That build date was the only one we could get through December. Only ONE slot where they could make the P3.

The only thing that wasn't available to the new dealer was the ashwood trim so got the walnut, and the normal luxury wheels had to be upgraded as they were out of stock (didn't particularly care about either and dealer ate the cost).

I ordered a GMC 3500HD truck late last year knowning the strict allocation those new GMC diesels have and it was a 4.5 month wait due to the engine certifications of the new diesel.

lol BS. MB built me a car without the dual screens on our P3 package and never told me. So the dealer ate that car and had to re-order another P3 when the screens came back in stock. And coincidentally I received an email from my dealer that our car is being build today. We ordered it June 22nd.

Actually, no, they messed it up. When they announced the global constraint they changed all current P3's to Q3's which signified a P3 package and everything that comes with it, MINUS the dual screens because they had run out of stock. My dealer never got the memo. In fact, the only reason I found out was from a post Wassaby made here about the GC placed on the screens. When I contacted my dealer they called MB and found that they had built the car, incorrectly or should I say, without approval. We put a hold a new car until the screens came back in stock and today we got the email from our dealer that our car is on the assembly line today. We placed our order June 22nd. I expected a much more streamlined experience with a luxury brand. I'm not impressed but then again, I'm not a fan boy of any brand. I buy the cars, motorcycles, and guns I own because I like the engineering put into the specific models. I enjoy precise machines with complex beauty, which is why we were drawn to the 2018 E300 P3. Hopefully things sail smoothly from here on out!

Yeah someone dropped the ball. You'd think they wouldn't have problems like this. It's not like we ordered a kia, as such I expect a certain attention to detail when paying that much cash. The service needs to supplement the machine, not drag it down.

Oh, they got the memo, along with every other dealer in the network. I expect nothing less than such behavior from MB of Tampa... Even though I bought my 2015 E350 from them, my replacement 2018 E300 is *NOT* being bought from them.

Can you elaborate on what they did to you. I want to be prepared when we show up and sign. I'm getting something for my troubles, I just don't know what is is yet. I need to weigh my options.

Hi Mate, do you have a ship date for your car? I believe mine is in production right now as well and was burned similarly (dealer took deposit then said then said no dual screens or HUD so I canceled and re-ordered with a different one who said it shouldn't be a problem, other than interior trim, ashwood, so I went with walnut) does the P3 in america have HUD? Our cars could be on the same ship, mine is anticipated to be in here in Ireland on Dec 20th and most America bound ships carrying mercs stop here and in Southampton I think.

I have received another delayed date for mine with P02. Now December 9 I believe is the new build date estimate. This is the 4th or 5th build date issued for mine that was originally end of September. Not sure it is fun dealing with this as this is my first MB. Sure hope my ES350 at 252,000 miles keeps going. Is all MB dealings like this delay after delay?

I don't know how this will be received by the audience at large, so I'll just post it without comment.
Two weeks ago, after seeing the official Global Media news release regarding the series of E-Coupe 4 bangers being introduced in non-U.S. markets, I contacted one of the individuals responsible for the story (@Daimler.com). I got a reply back from an individual at mbusa.com who wanted to know " ... which outlet you are writing for, so that we can give the questions full consideration in the most proper context." After informing him I was just a consumer and potential buyer, here is the answer I received from MB-USA, LLC (under the guise of Customer Support) to my specific question regarding the Global Constraint:
This answer is obviously inconsistent with what has been widely reported in this Forum in a couple of threads (even by me!) ... in fact before receiving this reply from MBUSA I was told by two different dealers that the Global Constraint was over, and that the Q02/03 packages were just fillers.
for what its worth

3) The global constraint for the 12.3" widescreen digital instrument panel has/has not been lifted
According to Daimler AG, the global constraint of the 12.3” widescreen digital instrument cluster will continue through 2018.
