well what do you know...
last weekend my car started the download map updates by itself for the 1st time in the 10 months that I had it..
(download wnet quick, but taking forever to instal. it's at 4% after 2hrs)

so it's been installing it since the 18th of june (2 weeks)
it's now at 62%
if we take 1.30hrs driving time per day, it means it took 21hrs to get here….
and this is only to install the french map, not the whole of Europe.
Terrible

I was just too lazy to download the update onto a USB drive and manually install!

My car just went in for its' first 12 month service, a service A, here in Melbourne, Australia.
They did the service A, as well as the map updates (upon request). They do not do "software updates" such as to update the system software to include the new ambient lighting schemes. odd.

My nav is trying to do two updates....one over the air which has not moved in months...but no clear way of stopping it. I have a copy on an SD card too, but starting that doesn't do anything as it is waiting for the OTA update to complete. There is no way of stopping the OTA update.

Map update- You do have a phone with Google Maps right??
Software update- What exactly do you want updated? Do you want a new background color?? LOL
The car has a great screen and tech that is far better then most cars on the road....it’s already up there in features...

How about a list view of the navigation route so you can see how it proposes to send you...something found on every other navigation I’ve seen including $100 ones? How about alerting you to freeway exits far enough in advance that you can change lanes if necessary? How about live traffic information that doesn’t expire after trree years with no renewal possible? Mercedes navigation is horrible and that’s an understatement. The best or nothing? Absolutely. It’s clearly not the best so guess what it must be.

A route list is shown under alternative routes when setting up the route. How far in advance do you need info to make a lane change? I see lane changes close to a mile ahead on a banner atop the map with distance. When making turns I also see a diagram of the roadway showing which lane should be used. (Its on the HUD too.) I especially like the lane designation feature. Many of the signal controlled intersections in my area have 6 lanes in each direction - 2 left, 3 straight, 1 right. No other nav I've used had that feature.
