I don't think that would work with remote parking because the key fob isn't in the car.

At that point you can verify if indeed the car has been taken and call the police to activate the LoJack for tracking.
I'm using geo-fencing for this. it's set to warn me when the car leaves the zone (ie my home)
and is active 24hrs, except from 0730 to 0800 in the morning when i go to work.
(So i do get an sms at all other hours when i take the car, but that's better
than to have switch the geo fencing on and off every time)

Important to clear some confusion.

This is applying to Keyless-Go cars only.

Those of us who have to put the SmartKey in the ignition are immune.

As far as a faraday cage, pretty sure a "Curiously Strong Mints" box would work for about $2. And you get a box of mints first.

Pretty much any metal box should do it. Just make sure the key doesn't touch the box so make sure the inside is insulated. To test it, stick a radio inside it and when you close the box, it should lose the signal. I think you can also use a regular box, just wrap it in aluminum foil. It just needs to close completely around the key.

Keyless Go is part of the P1 package.

Keyless Go may be part of P1 in the USA lineup, BUT I believe ALL W213s use a Push-to-Start button, no? If so, then it doesn't matter which configuration you have, the thieves can still start the car and drive off.

Without keyless go the key must be inserted into a designated spot in the center console.

It's called Keyless start which is standard on the W213. But I think you need keyless go in order to open the doors. It's probably pretty rare to find a car without the P1 package though. I remember on the W211 and W212, it was almost as rare to find one without it as it was to find one that had all the options. So thieves would have to break into the car in order to use the keyless start feature.

That is why I did not use the keyfob on my last trip to the EU. I used NFC from my phone to unlock the E350d I was using.
