E300 looking at CPO
I had a 2014 C300 pretty much loaded, in the luxury version. Got rid of that before I retired and got a 2014 LexusES350 ultra premium and don't like it
i got rid of the Benz because of high mileage and concern over cost of repairs. I'm better in retirement then I thought and we thought the C 300 was a bit small, so looking at the E
most likely will purchase a 1 year old E. now around here the luxury seems to Ben in short supply along with the adaptive head lights. Seems to part of the P2 package
So, how is the ride on the sport version, should I hold out and find a E with P2? What else should I be aware of?

I think P2 is the minimum you want, also, I would look for a car with leather as opposed to MB Tex. With leather, you get heat and ventilated seats, with MB Text you only get heated seats. I think ride is pretty firm on Sport, but it has as much to do with runflat tires as anything else - so, not sure the Luxury buys you much there except a bit more sidewall. They are rare, but a car with Airmatic sounds like it smooths the ride out a bit more - but I really don't dislike the ride on my 2017 Sport with the 19 inch wheels.
My dealer has some nicely equipped loaners - P2, Panorama roof, leather seats and the Sport body - they are nice cars and I suspect they sell quickly after their loaner life is over.
I have been lucky - even though a first year model, I had one issue when I picked the car up and a few squeaks and rattles - otherwise no issues at all. (I know others haven't been as fortunate, so consider me just one data point.) The 9 speed auto does have some odd hesitations around town at light throttle, but nothing truly objectionable - it is better behaved than I expected for such a complicated gearbox.
The way UA549 above has his car equipped would be perfection, but those are tough to find used for a while longer.
