Auto Brake problem
E-class w213: Two times last week the auto brake kicked in without any reason. That was really a horrible and unpleasant experience. Anyone else with the same problem? The car is now back for inspection.

I've had the car brake unexpectedly, but in the final analysis there was a danger that I did not see. I have all functions set for brake early, max spacing, etc.
At one time I had the cruise control set to stick with the speed limit until it slammed on the brakes in a 45 mph zone because it saw a school speed limit sign of 15 mph. It DID NOT see or interpret the "when lights are flashing" sign. They were not.

I've only once had the auto emergency brake engage, and it was correct -- some distracted driver pulled right out in front of me.
Otherwise, no issues. Do you have Distronic/Drive Pilot on your car? I've noticed that the loaner C's & W212 E's I've had WITHOUT Distronic were more prone to false alarm, although I've never had one of them auto-brake.
I have experienced what ua549 has with Distronic following speed limit signs. Of note, the Sunshine Skyway tollbooths wherein the speed limit goes from 65 to 55 to 25mph, then eventually goes back to 65... I don't fault the car for these -- the road is marked incorrectly and the car's just doing what it's told to do.
