Automatic Parking
Recently, for the first time I tried the automatic parking feature. Towards the end it will tell you to step on the brakes. My questions is, if I don't stop the car myself will it run right into the curb?? If the vehicle normally brakes on its own to avoid an accident, why would it run straight into the curb when parking?
Has anyone tried not braking till the end?

I have but only for a few seconds after it finished. I noticed it does not move, but I have only left it for a few seconds. It will ding the first time, then it will ding a second time.
I am not sure what it will do after that because I do not want to risk curbing a rim.

Avoiding an accident and hitting curbs while automatic parking are completely different features. Having said that, the answer was interesting because I've never tried the feature at all (wife's car and I hardly drive it, my V222 has a less sophisticated parking assist and I never use it).

if you are in a parking space and you place the gear in reverse, and there is a car passing by, the car will press the brakes for you and will not allow you to reverse. that being said, whats the difference between a curb behind you.... automatic parking would be nicer if it was fully automatic and place you in park afterwards.
It can calculate the distance from every angle. why not stop it for you as well. you can even pick if you want the car to park heads in or rear.for you.

I also said I have not even tried it and have not read the manual but reading other replies, I interpret that the car does what you expected it to do (as far as possible although I'm sure not all curbs are easy to detect accurately).

At least in my 2018 E300, all of those functions, steering, brakes, throttle, are all handled by the car. I use it quite often actually and it does stop automatically. If you have the 360 camera setup, when the Parktronic system is doing its thing, you'll see a small set of red horizontal lines on the tire paths. This indicates where the car is planning on stopping. I always to have my foot hovering over the brake pedal when using the system, and sometimes will even drag the brake a bit to slow it down, but so far it's always gotten it right.... BUT, ultimately, it's my car and if something goes wrong, it's my **** on the line, so I use it, but I don't trust it implicitly.
