W213 Updates and New Engines Coming
Well it's come quick, the W213 is already getting some significant updates .

Highlights are ( obvously market dependant ):
New CLS style steering wheel.
Distronic Cruise control and lane keep assist standard .
More Basic version of Widescreen cockpit to be made standard.
New E350 - 2.0 with EQ boost - 295bhp + power and a big torque boost with the new electric starter generator .
E450- more powerful Version of the V6.
E300d - 240bhp version of the 2.0 diesel
E400d 4matic - 340 bhp ( and 516 lb ft torque!!) New OM656 diesel straight 6. ( Also in E350d form).
E53 saloon and estate with output as in the CLS53 AMG.

I really hope the E400d 4 Matic comes to the UK!. Those stats are insane , and the economy will be 35- 40 mpg plus without difficulty .( UK gallons) .

I'm based in the UK. AFAIK, unfortunately the US will not be getting the new straight 6 diesel which is big shame for you - amazing torque , smoothness and economy and a range of 600 -700 miles if driven mainly on motorways .
You will be getting the New E350 - 295 bhp 2.0 plus EQ boost, the E450 - a 362 bhp version of the old V6 turbo to replace the E400, as well as the new 53 models with the I6 petrol /EQ Boost.
The interior and spec upgrades will be Worldwide I think.

It's strange that the CLS450, at least here, gets the new In line 6 with EQ Boost, but the E450 keeps the older V6 but with more power.
Mercedes' engine choices are very strange .

Diesels don't sell in the US and the EU versions can't meet US environmental regulations.
In the US diesel fuel is about the same price as super grade and quite a bit more than standard grade gasoline.

Diesel prices in the UK are now higher than petrol prices, even higher grade petrol. If the car is not designed to to take a certain engine, then you just can't slot it in. You have to take into consideration NVH. That's were a significant amount of money is spent during development.

Diesel prices in the UK are now higher than petrol prices, even higher grade petrol. If the car is not designed to to take a certain engine, then you just can't slot it in. You have to take into consideration NVH. That's were a significant amount of money is spent during development.
